The Message of the Gospel

“I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salavation” Rom 1:16

As is evident by the name of our building and the meetings we conduct, the gospel features prominently. This is because the gospel is the central message of the Bible. Below are some of the key principles of the gospel message.

The Bible - God's Word

"All Scripture is inspired by God" - 2 Timothy 3:16

Out of all the books you may read, the Bible is truly unique. It consists of 66 books that were written by 40 different people over about 2,000 years, and yet every word fits together to point to a perfect, just, and loving God. The only explanation for this is that the Bible is the living, unchanging Word, inspired by God Himself. The quotes you see on this page are directly taken from the Bible - God's Word.

God's Holiness and Our Sin

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" - Romans 3:23

God is perfect - and what the scriptures make clear and each of our experiences confirm is that we all fall short of His standard. Since God is a just God, He must punish sin. No matter how much good we may seek to do, our sin before God cannot be erased.

Sin - the Road to Death

"For the wages of sin is death" - Romans 6:23

The Bible tells us that every person will one day meet God. His coming is imminent. Because of how perfect God is, our sin separates us from God. The punishment for sin before God is eternal death. On our own, we do not have a relationship with God. We are helpless to save ourselves. Only through the blood of Christ shed at Calvary can we be redeemed.

Christ - the Perfect Savior

"The Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world." - 1 John 4:14

The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, and He is fully God. He is sinless. He loves us so much despite our sin that He became a man in this world, born of a virgin, and died on a cross as a substitute for sinners. This means that He received the punishment deserved by every person for their sin. Christ rose from the dead conquering sin and death, and today He is in Heaven at the Father's right hand. Through simple faith in the Lord Jesus, anyone can be saved.

Salvation - God's Free Gift

"By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast ." - Ephesians 2:8-9

How can one enter into the good of all that was accomplished at the cross. The Bible unmistakably teaches it is given as a gift from God for those who places their personal faith in the Lord Jesus. At salvation, the Holy Spirit indwells each believer, enabling them to live a life that pleases God.

Eternally secure

"I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." - John 10:28

When a person is saved, they are saved forever. Their sins are forgiven, they are justified in God's sight, they enjoy peace with God, they are born again, and are freed from the power of sin. Salvation changes everything! While sin may cause a believer to lose fellowship with God, salvation is eternal, and their relationship with God is forever secure. This is because salvation is not dependent upon us but by the Lord Jesus Christ.
